PHILADELPHIA (AP) _ Mark Recchi scored three goals as the Philadelphia Flyers spoiled the New York Rangers' exhibition opener 5-1 Saturday.

Peter White and Keith Primeau also scored for the Flyers (3-0), while Michael York had the Rangers' only goal.

Philadelphia goalie Brian Boucher made his first appearance of the preseason and stopped all 14 shots he faced in two periods. Roman Cechmanek finished up and saved nine of 10 shots, including a penalty shot by Brad Smyth with 6:05 left in the game.

Jean-Francois Labbe allowed two Philadelphia goals on 12 shots before being replaced by Johan Holmqvist with 6:18 left in the second period. Holmqvist stopped 14 of 17 shots.
