The lowdown
2000-01 record: 23-9; 14-4 in Pac-10 (3rd)
Final Ranking: No. 12 ESPN/USA Today; No. 15 AP
Postseason: Lost to Duke 76-63 in third round of NCAA Tournament.
Three Questions for 2001-02
1. Will Cedric Bozeman be an impact point? He can't replace Earl Watson's leadership but will he be more of a scorer, a better defender, more of a threat?
2. Will the Bruins' pressing attack be even more effective with more numbers? Will everyone except their role with a roster that is the deepest under Steve Lavin?
3. Will Lavin get consistent forward play out of T.J. Cummings? Josiah Johnson? Andre Patterson? Dijon Thompson? Spencer Gloger? Someone next to Jason Kapono and Dan Gadzuric.
Andy Katz's Scenarios
Best case: UCLA has the pieces to make a run at the Final Four and actually accomplishes the goal. The Bruins win the Pac-10 title along the way and earn a No. 1 seed.
Worst case: The newcomers stumble and go through growing pains that leads to a second or third-place finish in the Pac-10 and a mid-range NCAA Tournament seed.
