PHOENIX (AP) -- Brandy Reed scored 31 points as the Phoenix
Mercury beat the Cleveland Rockers 67-57 Monday night to snap a
two-game losing slide. Tonya Edwards added 12 points for Phoenix, and the Mercury
(15-9) held Cleveland to just four points in the final 4:08.
   Reed hit 10 of 16 shots from the floor and had eight rebounds.
   Ann Wauters scored 14 and Chasity Melvin 11 to lead Cleveland
(13-10), which defeated the Mercury 64-61 at Cleveland in the
teams' previous meeting.
   The Mercury closed the first half with an 8-2 run to lead 29-20
at the break.
   Phoenix played the second half without point guard Michelle
Cleary, who twisted her right knee midway through the first half.
   Cleveland opened the second half with a 15-2 run, and the
Rockers took the lead on a basket by Melvin with 15:07 left. But
the Mercury regained the lead for good when Bridget Pettis hit a
3-pointer with 11:47 remaining.
   Reed scored seven points in the final 2:38 to seal the victory
