FOXBORO, Mass. (AP) _ Ted Chronopoulos and John Harkes scored in the final 20 minutes as the New England Revolution beat the Miami Fusion 2-0 Saturday night to retain sole possession of first place in the Eastern Division.

Chronopolous broke a scoreless tie in the 72nd minute, netting his fourth goal of the season off Imad Baba's cross. Harkes, a late-game substitution, clinched victory in the first minute of injury time by scoring off Mauricio Ramos' free kick.

The two teams had battled to 1-1 ties in their two previous meetings this season, and a Miami victory Saturday would have left both teams with 19 standings points. Instead, New England (6-4-4) has 22 points to 16 for Miami (4-5-4).

New England dominated the first half, outshooting the Fusion 7-0 and gaining a 6-2 advantage in corner kicks, but couldn't put the ball in the net.

The Revolution's Walde Harris and Brian Dunseth both missed scoring chances in the final five minutes of the first half while Johnny Torres put a shot off the top of the right crossbar 10 minutes after the break.

Goalkeeper Jeff Causey, who has played every minute of every match this season for New England, made one save for his second shutout of the year.

Miami played without midfielder Pablo Mastroeni, who was serving a red-card accumulation suspension.
