COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) _ Jeff Cunningham scored his first goal of the year just two minutes into the game, but the Columbus Crew allowed D.C. United to pull into a 1-1 tie Saturday night.

Cunningham took a pass from sweeper Ansil Elcock, dribbled past one defender, and fired the ball through the legs of United goalkeeper Tom Presthus.

Defending league champion United (3-9-2) countered with 11 minutes left, when Geoff Aunger sent a high cross from the top of the box that goalkeeper Mark Dougherty failed to hold, allowing A.J. Wood to tap in the tying goal from close range.

There were no shots on goal in the two overtime periods.

The Crew is 5-6-2.
