By Jeff Potrykus Special to ESPN.com Iowa Hawkeyes 1999 record: 1-10 (0-8 Big Ten) Coach: Kirk Ferentz Returning starters: 13 (7 offense, 6 defense) Outlook If the Hawkeyes' prospects for the 2000 season came in the form of a weather forecast, the entire state of Iowa would be under a severe weather alert. Forget about the Hawkeyes posting a winning record this season. Former coach Hayden Fry didn't leave much talent when he called it quits after the '98 season and athletic director Robert Bowlsby didn't make life easier for Ferentz by scheduling Kansas State and Nebraska for this season. Couldn't Bowlsby sneak the St. Louis Rams on the non-conference schedule, too? Keep an eye on ... Kahlil Hill. After being suspended for the entire '99 season for an undisclosed violation of team rules, the junior wide receiver should be the Hawkeyes' most dynamic player. As a freshman in '98, Hill averaged 12.3 yards on 35 receptions, 25.8 yards on kickoff returns and 17.7 yards on punt returns. It's a good season if ...
