The lowdown
2000-01 record: 14-16; 7-9 in Big 12 (7th)
Final Ranking: NR
Postseason: None
Three Questions for 2001-02
1. How does Barry Collier replace Cookie Belcher's leadership at the point and Kimani Ffriend's presence in the post?
2. What can the Huskers expect out of five newcomers? Can they get the needed impact contributions?
3. Who is going to score? Is there a go-to player on the team?
Three Key Facts
1. Look for senior guards Cary Cochran and John Robinson, as well as sophomore forward Brian Conklin, to carry much of the offensive load this season with the departure of four starters. Cochran is the lone starter returning, and of the 10 players returning this season, they combine for only 40 starts in their Nebraska careers.
2. Cochran ranked second in the Big 12 in 3-point shooting and fourth in the nation -- hitting 78 of 165 attempts from behind the arc (47.3 percent).
3. Junior college transfer Brennon Clemmons was a honorable mention All-American last season at Olney Central (Ill.) CC.
Andy Katz's Scenarios
Best case: The Huskers finish above 10th in the Big 12 and hover near .500
Worst case: They're scratching to get out of the cellar.
