The lowdown
2000-01 record: 11-18; 4-12 in Big 12 (10th)
Final Ranking: NR
Postseason: None
Three Questions for 2001-02
1. How does coach Jim Woodridge incorporate a host of newcomers, nearly an entire team into an already crowded contributing roster?
2. The three top scorers return to a sub-.500 team, but does that mean the Wildcats will be better or just as average? Can Larry Reid, Tony Atchinson and Travis Reynolds lead the Wildcats to a first division finish?
3. Will Kansas State be more of a factor in conference road games? Can the Wildcats make their homecourt as much trouble as it was last season in spots?
Three Key Facts
1. Included in last year's 11 wins were three over teams that reached the NCAA Tournament (Hampton, Iowa and Missouri).
2. The Wildcats defense wasn't a problem last season, as they held conference foes to just 39.7 percent shooting, which ranked third in the conference behind Kansas and Texas.
3. In his first season at K-State, Jim Wooldridge became just the second head coach in school history to beat two top 25 teams in his initial campaign (Iowa, Missouri).
Andy Katz's Scenarios
Best case: Kansas State makes a run at sixth in the Big 12, but falls a game or two short and ends up in the NIT.
Worst case: The Wildcats drop to the second division and miss out on the postseason.
