Can Tayshaun Prince, left, and Keith Bogans lead Kentucky to a national title? |
Can Bogans and Prince lead Kentucky to the promised land?
Coach Tubby Smith had to be ecstatic when Keith Bogans and Tayshaun Prince withdrew from the NBA draft to return to Lexington. This Wildcats team has experience, depth and talent. Cliff Hawkins will be a factor in the backcourt. Another key is the health of Jason Parker. If he can come back from a knee injury, watch out.
How will Florida's diaper dandies mesh with the returning veterans?
Imagine if Kwame Brown joined Billy Donovan's squad instead of opting for the NBA? Donovan still has a pair of explosive newcomers in David Lee and James White. Throw those two into the mix with Brett Nelson in the backcourt and Udonis Haslem up front, and Donovan has a national championship-caliber contender.
Will Buzz Peterson succeed in his first season at Tennessee?
New coach Buzz Peterson, Michael Jordan's former roommate as a player at North Carolina, has led Appalachian State and Tulsa to success the last two years. Now he tries to take Tennessee up a notch, replacing Jerry Green. All Green did was win 20-plus games and lead the Vols to four straight NCAA appearances. Peterson has already cracked the whip, throwing two players off the team. Having Vincent Yarborough back helps.
