BOX SCORE
UNIONDALE, New York (Ticker) -- Michael Nylander scored late in the second period to snap a tie and lift the Tampa Bay Lightning to a 4-2 exhibition victory over the New York Islanders. With 4:57 remaining, Nylander poked the puck past goaltender Felix Potvin during a goalmouth scramble just as he was being crosschecked from behind by defenseman Rich Pilon. Dan Cloutier overcame a shaky first period to post his third preseason win for the Lightning, turning aside 13 of 15 shots. Rookies Jorgen Jonsson and Josh Green scored first-period goals for the Islanders, who fell to 2-2 in exhibition play, losing both games at the Nassau Coliseum. Robert Petrovicky scored his third goal and Dan Kesa added an empty-netter in the final minute for Tampa Bay, who evened their preseason record at 4-4. Potvin played well despite the loss, stopping 24 of 27 shots.
