Mystics take one-game lead over Shock

WASHINGTON (AP) -- Murriel Page scored 20 points, grabbed nine rebounds and blocked three blocks Friday night to lead the Washington Mystics to a 96-72 victory against the Detroit Shock.

Washington (13-16) has a one-game lead over Detroit (12-17) in the chase for the fourth and final WNBA Eastern Conference playoff spot. The Mystics hold the tiebreaker advantage based on their 3-0 record against the Shock. Both teams have three games remaining.

Page, the WNBA's field-goal percentage leader, hit 8 of 11 shots from the floor and 4 of 5 free throws.

Astou Ndiaye-Diatta had 19 points and seven rebounds to lead Detroit, which has lost seven of nine games. Edwina Brown scored 12, and Anna DeForge and Dominique Canty each added 11.

Nikki McCray had 19 points for the Mystics, who got 16 points and six assists from Chamique Holdsclaw. The Mystics also got a big lift from rookie reserve Tausha Mills, who hit 4 of 5 from the field and 9 of 10 from the foul line. Mills scored 17 points and pulled down six rebounds in 16 minutes.

The Mystics closed the first half with a 9-0 run, including five points by Mills, to take a 45-26 lead.

After Detroit scored the first four points of the second half, Washington went on an 8-0 run.
