Betty Lennox
Betty Lennox kept the Mystics off balance with her career-high 31 points Saturday night.

Lennox scored 17 points in the second half, and Smith made four 3-pointers to setting the WNBA record with 79 this season as the Lynx (13-13) won their third straight.

Nikki McCray had 24 points for Washington, losers of five of eight at home. The Mystics (11-15) fell one game behind Detroit for fourth place in the Eastern Conference. The Shock beat the Charlotte Sting 75-72 Saturday night. Murriel Page had 19 points and 12 rebounds as Washington had five players score in double figures.

The Mystics, who trailed by as many as 10 points, cut Minnesota's lead to one with five seconds remaining. However, McCray's desperation shot was off the mark and after the buzzer.

Mystics coach Darrell Walker dropped to 2-4 since taking over for Nancy Darsch on July 15.
