Sparks hold bragging rights in West

HOUSTON (AP) -- Tamecka Dixon scored 14 of her 19 points in the second half as four Los Angeles players scored in double figures Saturday to rally the Sparks to an 84-74 victory over the Houston Comets.

Los Angeles overcame a nine-point deficit in the second half to complete the sweep of the three-game season series with Houston.

DeLisha Milton had 17 points, while Lisa Leslie and Mwadi Mabika added 16 apiece.

The Sparks (24-3) made four of their first five shots to build an early six-point lead. The Comets (22-5) pulled even and put together a 7-0 run in the closing minutes of the first half to take a 43-36 at halftime.

Houston extended the lead to as many as nine points before Los Angeles started to rally. The Sparks went on a 25-6 run to take a 10-point lead with six minutes remaining. The Comets were unable to pull any closer than six from that point.

Los Angeles took a two-game lead over Houston in the Western Conference.

Cynthia Cooper scored 25 points for the Comets, and Janeth Arcain added 16.
