CLEVELAND (AP) -- Vicki Hall scored 15 of her career-high 19
points in the first half as the Cleveland Rockers beat the Detroit
Shock 80-60 Friday night, setting the stage for a showdown Saturday with New York.

Hall scored seven straight during one stretch in the opening
half, hitting a 3-pointer from 22 feet to put the Rockers ahead to
stay at 13-10. She quickly added a 15-foot jumper and a running
hook shot.
The Rockers (14-11) snapped a two-game losing streak and
remained 1 1/2 games behind the first-place Liberty in the
Eastern Conference. New York defeated Charlotte tonight.
Rookie Ann Wauters, the first overall pick in this year's draft,
had season highs of 15 points, nine rebounds and four blocks. The
19-year-old center from Belgium did not miss a shot, going 6-for-6
from the field, and and making all three free throws.
Hall entered the game when starting forward Mery Andrade
sustained a contusion of the right shin 24 seconds into the game
when she collided with Detroit's Barbara Farris. Andrade returned
with 13:06 remaining in the game.
Cleveland (14-11) broke a two-game losing streak and moved
within one game of first-place New York in the Eastern Conference.
The Liberty played at Charlotte on Friday night and will play host
to the Rockers at Madison Square Garden on Saturday night.
Detroit (11-14) fell into a tie with the Washington Mystics for
fourth place in the East.
Wendy Palmer led the Shock with 13 points and nine rebounds, and
Claudia Maria das Neves added 11 points.
Detroit shot just 36 percent from the field, as starting guards
Dominque Canty, who went scoreless, and Edwina Brown combined for
1-for-15 shooting.
Cleveland shot 50 percent from the field as the Rockers'
starting guards shot a combined 10-for-22. Merlakia Jones shot
6-for-15 with 13 points, and Suzie McConnell Serio was 4-for-7 for
10 points.
