WASHINGTON (AP) -- Chamique Holdsclaw scored a career-high 29 points and had 12 rebounds as the Washington Mystics beat the Orlando Miracle 92-66 on Wednesday night.

Nikki McCray added 26 points and Murriel Page scored 11 of her 15 points in the second half as the Mystics opened the season with a victory for the first time in their three-year history.

Washington broke the franchise scoring record when Tausha Mills hit a free throw with 40.2 seconds left that made it 89-65. Holdsclaw tied a team mark with her 29-point performance.

Shannon Johnson scored 16 points and reserve Adrienne Johnson added 14 for the Miracle, who won three of four games against Washington last year.

The game drew a crowd of 14,421, the first time Washington has not sold out its home opener. The Mystics have led the WNBA in attendance in each of the past two years.

Holdsclaw scored the Mystics' first five points as Washington built a 15-5 lead.

Holdsclaw, who had 16 first-half points, forced a bad pass and sprung McCray for a layup that gave the Mystics a 24-11 lead. Orlando used a 9-0 run, capped by Cintia Dos Santos' 3-point play, to cut the deficit to four at 24-20.

After McCray's 3-pointer gave Washington a 31-22 lead with 7:42 left, Orlando outscored Washington 19-9 the rest of the half to take a 41-40 lead.

Shannon Johnson tied it at 45 on a layup 1:30 into the second half, but Washington scored the next six points to take command. Holdsclaw's jumper broke the tie and Page scored consecutive baskets on strong inside moves for a 49-45 lead.

McCray and Holdsclaw hit consecutive 3-pointers for a 64-54 cushion with 10:01 left.
