FOXBORO, Massachusetts (Ticker) -- The New England Revolution scored twice in a three-minute span of an entertaining second half and claimed their first win in regulation time, 2-1 over the visiting San Jose Earthquakes at Foxboro Stadium.

Both teams came out with decidedly offensive approaches after the break. San Jose came close to taking the lead through Iranian star Khodadad Azizi, who was making his return to the field after serving a three-game suspension. Azizi hit the left goalpost in the 51st minute from just inside the box.

Four minutes later, the Revolution made their breakthrough. Wolde Harris picked off a bad pass by Ryan Tinsley in San Jose's half and launched Mauricio Ramos, who was making a run toward the box.

Ramos took the ball off the bounce and caught Joe Cannon off his line with a first-time shot in the upper right hand corner of the net. It was Ramos's first goal in a Revolution uniform and it came after a lackluster first half.

Ramos returned the favor to Harris on the Revolution's second goal in the 58th minute. Harris dribbled past two Earthquake players near the left corner of the box and started a give-and-go with Ramos.

Harris received the ball on the left side of the box, and his shot toward the far post was touched by Cannon but still made it through.

The Earthquakes got back a goal in the 72nd minute through forward Abdul Thompson Conteh. Azizi sent a long pass from midfield to Conteh, who used his chest to get around Brian Dunseth outside the penalty area and loft the ball over goalkeeper Jeff Causey.

In the final 20 minutes, the Earthquakes came close to tying the score, with the best chance coming from second-half substitute Wojtek Krakowiak. With two minutes left in regulation, he garnered the ball on the right side of the six-yard box and shot right on Causey, who was covering the right post.

San Jose was playing without top striker Ronald Cerritos, who leads the team with nine points, including four goals. Conteh netted his fourth goal of the season, tying him with Cerritos for the team lead.
