FOXBORO, Mass. (AP) _ New England goalie Jeff Causey blocked a penalty kick as the Revolution and Chicago Fire played a 1-1 overtime tie on a cold and drizzly Saturday night before 6,737 fans at Foxboro Stadium.

The Revolution's second-smallest crowd ever saw Causey preserve the tie with 11 minutes left in regulation by using his right hand to turn aside Chicago forward Ante Razov's penalty kick. The shot was awarded after a New England hand-ball.

Chicago's Dema Kovalenko put the Fire ahead 1-0 after 58 minutes, knocking in a rebound of a shot by Chris Armas.

New England (1-2-3) answered 10 minutes later, when Ivan McKinley turned in Mauricio Ramos' cross in a crowd of sliding players.

The Revolution didn't manage any shots on Chicago goalkeeper Zach Thornton during the first half, but came alive after intermission.

The Revolution had two good chances in overtime, on a corner kick by Ramos in the first minute, and on a 25-yard drive by Imad Baba with two minutes remaining.

Chicago (2-3-1) played without Hristo Stoitchkov, the fourth-leading scorer in MLS, but had the better run of play, including several partial breakaways by Razov during the first half.

Both teams struggled with the conditions, and the slick play made for inconsistent ball control. Winds gusted at 20 to 25 miles per hour, and the temperature was 38 degrees at kickoff.

New England's Rusty Pierce broke up a good chance by Razov in the 63rd minute, and the Revolution nearly pulled out the match in injury time on a cross from William Sunsing to Ramos inside the penalty box.
