Began his career at Navarro College (Texas) on a basketball scholarship but also played football well enough to be recruited to Oklahoma in the spring of 1997. Came to Jackson State in '98 but broke his leg in the second game of the year after catching two passes for 37 yards. Was awarded a second redshirt year by the NCAA. Came back for a sixth year in '99 and caught 19-325 and two TDs in eight games.
Positives
Great size. Good speed. Jumps well. Has an upside.
Negatives
Very raw around the edges. Never established himself in college and did not take the bull by the horns in '99. Inconsistent catcher.
