| MINNEAPOLIS -- Tampa Bay Buccaneers defensive tackle Warren Sapp was forced to sit out Sunday's game with the Minnesota Vikings because of his broken left hand.
Sapp, the NFC defensive player of the month for September, broke two bones in his left hand last week against Denver, although he returned to play the second half. The fifth-year pro anchors the NFL's top-ranked defense. He had 16 tackles in three games, and shared the league lead in sacks with four entering Sunday. He tied a team record with three sacks in Tampa Bay's victory over Philadelphia in Week 2.
Coach Tony Dungy held the two-time Pro Bowl selection out of
contact work in practice all week but remained hopeful that Sapp
