Yes, a team that struggled through a six-game losing streak during the regular season can indeed earn a trip to the Big Dance. But consider also that Vanderbilt, which finished sixth in the SEC, played Georgia, Tennessee, Auburn and UC Santa Barbara in that stretch. Though the Commodores did suffer huge losses to the Lady Bulldogs and Lady Vols, they also nearly upset Tennessee in the regular-season finale before falling 59-57. The Commodores did pull off a notable upset in the SEC quarterfinals, however, beating then-No. 10 LSU 59-46. Still, considering losses to Purdue, Duke and LSU, Vandy probably isn't built for a long stay.
