Clint Stoerner held on to the ball as Arkansas ran out the clock. Last season, Stoerner fumbled as the Razorbacks failed to hold on to a lead against the Vols. Stoerner, who led Arkansas back from a 24-14 deficit with two second-half TDs. The go-ahead score came on a 23-yard pass to Anthony Lucas with 3:44 left. After 30 minutes, the Huskers led 24-9 and had gained 253 yards against a K-State defense which came into the game allowing just 232.3 per game. Nebraska QB Eric Crouch, who rushed for 158 yards and two TDs on 27 carries, a record for a Nebraska QB. The old record had been set by John Bordogna against Kansas State in 1952. Ron Dayne got rolling after a slow start. The big fella gained just 39 yards on his first 12 carries, but then went on to gain 177 on his final 15 rushes to crush Ricky Williams' major-college rushing record. Dayne, who finished with 216 yards on 27 carries. He now has 6,397 career rushing yards, 118 more than Williams. Dayne broke the record on a 31-yard run in the second quarter.
