"Just goes to show how good the Big Ten is. While Michigan State was a middle of the road team in the conference, they still thumped one of the best the WAC had to offer. Fresno was supposed to be one of the best in the country, so what does that say for the Spartans?"

WITH ROD GILMORE

Michigan State's Charles Rogers is a difference-maker. There is not quite anybody who measures up to him. He's a big receiver with great ability and hands. As much as Rogers is a fantastic big receiver at 6-foot-4, Fresno State's Rodney Wright is a fantastic small one at 5-9. They both had phenomenal games. It was like a track meet, exciting to watch. There was 907 yards of passing offense. And while David Carr had more yards (531), Jeff Smoker played well for Michigan State. It was a great day for quarterbacks and receivers in Silicon Valley. On short-yardage plays, the Spartans' T.J. Duckett bounced outside and made some long runs when Fresno State was bunched up.

IT WAS OVER WHEN
After Fresno State pulled with two, Michigan State responded with a seven-play, 77-yard scoring drive that consumed more than four minutes and was capped with a Jeff Smoker to Ivory McCoy TD.
GAME BALL GOES TO
