The lowdown
2000-01 record: 15-14; 9-7 in C-USA (3rd in American)
Final Ranking: NR
Postseason: None.
Three Questions for 2001-02
1. How much of an impact will Dwayne Wade be for the Eagles? Will he come in and live up to his expectations after sitting out last season?
2. Who will replace Brian Wardle's toughness, not to mention his 18.8 points a game?
3. Can Cordell Henry be a go-to player? If not, then who?
Three Key Facts
1. Take note, Shaq. After ranking 10th and ninth among C-USA teams in overall and league free-throw shooting in 1999-2000, the Golden Eagles led the conference in both categories last season. Marquette connected on 71.1 percent of his shots from the line and was even better against C-USA schools, hitting 74.5 percent from the charity stripe.
2. Even though leading scorer Wardle is gone, Marquette returns its next five leading scorers from last season.
3. The Golden Eagles will head to the great while north to play in the Alaska Shootout on Nove. 20-24. Marquette opens the tournament against Tennessee.
Andy Katz's Scenarios
Best case: The Eagles score more and are less painful to watch, make a run again at an NCAA Tournament berth, but end up in the NIT.
Worst case: They fall short of the postseason because they continue struggling to score.
