SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) – John Stockton pushed the replay button
Sunday afternoon, taking over in the fourth quarter of a tight
game, just like he has many times in the past.

The master of the pick-and-roll, Stockton ran it to perfection
against the Sacramento Kings. He scored 12 of his 20 points in the
fourth quarter and also handed out four assists, rallying the Utah
Jazz in the fourth quarter for a 94-90 victory.
"John has been doing that for years, you kind of take it for
granted and maybe other teams do as well," said Karl Malone, who
had 24 points, nine rebounds and six assists. "He made big shot
after big shot."
Donyell Marshall scored a season-high 31 points and had 14
rebounds, helping Utah win for the seventh time in eight games. The
Kings are the only team to beat Utah in that stretch, beating the
Jazz at home in overtime.
Trailing by seven points midway through the fourth quarter,
Stockton led a 12-1 run and Utah never trailed again.
Stockton, who finished with eight assists and one turnover,
scored eight points during the spurt. He fed Marshall for a dunk,
putting the Jazz ahead 86-82 with 3:26 remaining.
"Everyone was paying attention to Donyell and Karl, I was just
out there playing," Stockton said. "I try not to think too much
out there."
Chris Webber, Sacramento's leading scorer and rebounder, missed
his third straight game with a sprained ankle. He is expected to
miss Tuesday's home game against Atlanta. The Kings have dropped
five of their last seven.
With Utah ahead 92-90, Malone rebounded a missed shot by Peja
Stojakovic with 5.4 seconds left and hit two free throws for the
final margin.
Stojakovic scored 27 points for the Kings, who missed 16-of-19
shots in the fourth quarter when they were outscored 30-19. Vlade
Divac had 16 points, Bobby Jackson 14 and Jason Williams 10 for the
Kings.
"They played good defense and we turned the ball over at the
end of the game," Stojakovic said. "We didn't make good
decisions, but we played all 48 minutes and put ourselves in a
position to win the game."
After shooting poorly through three quarters, Utah finally got
going in the fourth period, converting 11-of-17 field-goal attempts
and went 8-of-9 from the line. Utah made 24-of-25 free throws.
"In a game like this you need to hit your free throws," Malone
said. "You can't afford to miss too many if you want to win games
like this one."
Sacramento opened the third quarter by making eight of its first
11 shots, building the lead to 11 points. Marshall helped bring the
Jazz back, scoring 15 points as Utah got within 71-64 after three
quarters.
Stojakovic scored 18 points and Divac had 10 as the Kings went
into halftime with a 44-39 lead.
"I think we got too relaxed and didn't keep attacking the
basket like we usually do," Jackson said. "They came out and
played aggressive, they ran the pick-and-roll at the end and
executed on offense. We executed poorly on offense and that's why
we lost."
The Jazz missed 17 of their first 19 shots in the second
quarter, but the Kings held only a 20-19 advantage. Marshall had 14
points and 11 rebounds for Utah, which shot 14-of-48 in the opening
half.
"I don't know if we were sleep-walking or what, but they just
manhandled us all day long until the last part of the ballgame,"
Utah coach Jerry Sloan said. "We finally got a little more life
and fortunately down the stretch they missed a couple of shots and
we were able to score a few times."
Game notes
Before the game, the Kings signed forward Art Long to a
10-day contract. ... Malone had no rebounds in the first half, but
had five in the third quarter. ... The Jazz made their first 18
free throws before Malone missed in the fourth quarter. ... The
Kings are 21-5 at home.
