SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) -- Eight was enough for Sacramento on Friday night.
Chris Webber had 29 points and 14 rebounds, and Nick Anderson
added 28 points and 11 rebounds as the depleted Kings held off the
Detroit Pistons 113-103.
The Kings had only eight players the final 2½ quarters.

Vlade Divac went out with a strained knee seven minutes into the
game, Corliss Williamson was ejected in the second quarter and the
injured Jon Barry and Predrag Stojakovic didn't dress.
"It was an unbelievable win," Kings coach Rick Adelman said.
"Under the circumstances it might be our best win all year. We
only had eight players and everyone responded."
Webber certainly did. Playing all but two minutes, he made
11-of-18 shots, had two blocks and made some important baskets in
the fourth quarter. And Webber did it knowing there was no rest
coming.
"Chris was going to play, he wasn't coming out," Adelman said.
After Williamson picked up two technical fouls and was ejected,
the Kings responded with a 17-4 run in the second quarter to assume
the lead for good.
Anderson hit two 3-pointers in the spurt and had the last five
points, putting the Kings ahead 50-40.
"We knew once we lost Corliss it was going to be tough," said
Kings reserve forward Lawrence Funderburke, who had 11 points and
six rebounds. "We used that motivation to get us going."
The victory gave the Kings 40 wins, the most since the franchise
moved to Sacramento for the 1985-86 season. Their magic number for
clinching a playoff spot is three.
Anderson shot from long-range all game, making 6-of-15
3-pointers and coming within one of his season-high point total.
"Nick hit some big shots, we'd get closer, that's how it was
all game, we had to play catch up," said Grant Hill, who scored 35
points and had nine rebounds for the Pistons.
Jerry Stackhouse added 24 points for Detroit, which had won
three straight on the road and seven of nine under interim coach
George Irvine.
"You have got to give them credit, they ended up losing their
starting center, their starting small forward and started the game
off missing their best small forward and they played hard and were
sharper than us," Irvine said.
Jason Williams had 15 points and 10 assists for Sacramento and
reserve Scot Pollard added six points and eight rebounds.
Darrick Martin made two 3-pointers early in the fourth quarter
as the Kings took a 94-86 lead with 7:35 remaining. Anderson had
six 3-pointers and his final one, with 1:36 remaining, put the
Kings ahead 106-97.
Anderson scored 13 first-half points and had eight rebounds,
helping the Kings take a 54-52 lead into the break.
Game notes
Hill scored 20 points in the first half. ... The Kings had
12 first-half turnovers, five by Webber, who had eight total. ...
The Kings are the league's highest scoring team and Detroit is
second. ... Divac had an MRI after the game and his status is
day-to-day.
