CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) _ Allan Houston scored 27 points and Latrell Sprewell added 23 points and 11 rebounds as the New York Knicks dominated the Charlotte Hornets 118-99 Friday night. Charlie Ward also scored 20 points and Marcus Camby _ in the lineup for a second time since returning from a knee injury _ had 15 for the Knicks, who won their fourth straight behind 55 percent (42-of-76) shooting. David Wesley paced the Hornets with 24 points and Elden Campbell had 20 points and 10 rebounds. Charlotte narrowed an eight-point New York lead down to 33-32 in the first four minutes of the second period. But the Knicks responded with a 14-3 spurt to lead 47-35 on Sprewell's runner in the lane with 3:34 left in the half. New York led by as many as 15 in the second quarter before the Hornets got one basket each from Eddie Robinson and Campbell to make it 56-45 at halftime. A 12-0 run sparked by Ward's second 3-pointer of the third period gave New York a 77-51 lead with 6:11 left. With Houston scoring at will from outside early in the fourth quarter, the Knicks stayed comfortably ahead the rest of the way. ^Notes@: The Hornets placed guard/forward Dale Ellis on the injured list. Ellis is suffering from tendinitis in the right knee. To fill his roster spot, Charlotte activated Michael Hawkins from the injured list. He had been out since Feb. 8 with tendinitis in his left knee.
