PHILADELPHIA (AP) -- Dustin Hermanson may be an oddity. He is one the few players who actually likes Veterans Stadium. Hermanson praised the beleaguered Philadelphia ballpark Friday night after pitching his second career shutout, leading the Montreal Expos over the Phillies 4-0. "It's a great mound, it seems a bit higher, like you are on top of everyone," said Hermanson. "But the mound is prepared nicely. I've always liked pitching here." Hermanson (1-1) gave up six hits in his first shutout since July 15, 1997, against Florida. He allowed only one hit after the second inning. Hermanson struck out five and walked two in his first complete game since May 3, 1998, against Arizona. Chris Brock (0-2) struck out a career-high 11 in seven innings, but was hurt by three solo home runs. "I wanted to throw a lot of strikes tonight but it hurt me," Brock said. "They have pretty good hitters over there. Sometimes good hitters hit good pitches." Vladimir Guerrero also enjoys playing at the Vet, hitting his fifth home run of the season. Guerrero has feasted at Veterans Stadium throughout his career. After going 2-for-3 in the win, he is 20-for-53 (.377) with six home runs and 13 RBIs in Philadelphia. He also made a strong throw to cut down a Phillies threat. Guerrero hit a upper-deck home run to left-center field to give Montreal a 1-0 lead in the fourth, and the Expos had two flyouts to the warning track in the inning. "There seems to be a Vladimir Guerrero highlight in every game," Hermanson said. "He can throw, he can hit, he can run. He's a tremendous talent." Mike Mordecai homered in the fifth and Rondell White connected in the sixth. Guerrero almost homered again in the sixth, but center fielder Kevin Sefcik caught it at the fence. Montreal tacked on another run in the sixth when Lee Stevens doubled and Trace Coquillette blooped a single. Rico Brogna doubled to lead off the Phillies second and tried to advance on Mike Lieberthal's fly ball to right. But Guerrero, off-balance and falling backwards, made a perfect throw to third to get him. The next two Phillies singled but were stranded. "That play was like an infielder turning a double play," said Expos manager Felipe Alou. "He had no footing whatsoever and no positioning. That was an unusual play for an outfielder. That shows you how athletic he is." Game notesMontreal rookie Peter Bergeron struck out looking three times. He has now struck out 10 times in 11 games. ... Brock's 11 strikeouts were the most by a Phillies pitcher since Randy Wolf had 11 against the New York Mets last September. ... Of the Expos' first 10 homers of the season entering the game, only one was solo. ...
