PHOENIX (AP) _ Matt Stairs homered and drove in three runs as the Oakland Athletics defeated the Milwaukee Brewers 12-9 on Thursday.

Ben Grieve had three hits and three RBIs, and A.J. Hinch and Miguel Tejada also homered for the A's, who snapped a three-game losing streak.

Tim Hudson allowed three runs, all in the third, and seven hits in six innings to record his first spring victory. He walked one and struck out four.

Jeromy Burnitz hit his third homer in two days and Ron Belliard also homered for the Brewers.

The A's scored six runs in the first inning, as the top eight batters reached base safely against Milwaukee starter and loser Horacio Estrada, who walked three.

Olmedo Saenz and Grieve each drove in two runs in the inning and Randy Velarde drove in his first run of the spring after 56 at bats.

Stairs hit his third homer of the spring in the second to give Oakland an 8-0 lead. Hinch's two-run homer put the A's up 10-3 in the third.

Estrada allowed 10 runs on 10 hits in 2 1-3 innings.

The Brewers scored six runs, all against minor-leaguer Bert Snow, in the eighth, highlighted by Tyler Houston's two-run double.

Brewers DH Mark Sweeney, who had two hits and drove in a run, left the game under his own power after jamming his foot on first base in the top of the ninth inning.

The two teams combined for 30 hits.
