TEMPE, Arizona (Ticker) -- Scott Schoeneweis continued his strong bid to earn a spot in the rotation with four strong innings and Benji Gil hit an inside-the-park grand slam as the Anaheim Angels posted a 7-3 triumph over a Colorado Rockies split squad. Schoeneweis, a 26-year-old lefthander, struggled out of the bullpen for the Angels last season but has allowed just one earned run and six hits over seven innings this spring. Mark Petkovsek, Eric Weaver and Steve Mintz added scoreless innings in relief for Anaheim. Mo Vaughn doubled and drove in a run for the Angels, who collected 11 hits. Brian Bohanon allowed three runs and six hits over three innings, walking three, for Colorado. Julian Tavarez had three scoreless frames before Mike DeJean was tagged for four runs over the final two innings. Larry Walker had two hits and is 6-for-14 this spring.
