The skinny: Depending on the wind, Tiger Woods says he has played it with a 2-iron and a 60-degree wedge, or driver and a 4-iron. Tee shot should be left of center. Green set a few paces behind Swilken Burn.

Ian Baker-Finch says: Under normal conditions, players will hit 3-woods and wedges to the green. You want to avoid going to far with your drive to avoid hitting half shots for your second. You'll want to spin the approach, because the hole is usually near the burn and you don't want to land short. When I was leading after three rounds in 1984, I left it short and spun it back into the burn, which was really unusual.
