STOCK UP: Lakers, Nuggets excel
Los Angeles Lakers -- The Lakers now have a nine-game winning streak after Sunday night's win over the Utah Jazz. LA is an NBA-best 17-3, and there haven't been any problems with Kobe, Shaq, Mailman and the Glove so far! Coach Phil Jackson's team just keeps on rolling, baby!

Denver Nuggets -- What about the Nuggets? Last season, this franchise won 17 games and this year, Denver is almost there already with 13 wins, even with Sunday night's loss to the Boston Celtics.

Stanford hoops -- How about a salute to Stanford! Coach Mike Montgomery's team stunned No. 1 Kansas at the Wooden Classic on Saturday. The Cardinal has played well despite a foot injury to Josh Childress.

RB Justin Vincent -- LSU's Vincent ran for an incredible 201 yards as the Tigers beat Georgia in the SEC Championship.

RB Clinton Portis -- Portis was brilliant, rushing for 218 yards and five touchdowns in the Denver Broncos' big win over the Kansas City Chiefs.

STOCK DOWN: BCS computers, Notre Dame
BCS -- The BCS computer system is brutal. Can you believe that was the determining factor in figuring the BCS championship matchup?

Notre Dame football -- It hurts me to say this, but what happened to Notre Dame at the Carrier Dome? The Irish were blown out after Syracuse had lost to Rutgers the week before. Walter Reyes had five touchdowns for coach Paul Pasqualoni's Orangemen.

Oklahoma football -- The Sooners were blown out 35-7 by Kansas State in the Big 12 title game.

Orlando Magic - The Magic have lost 19 in a row. It's pretty amazing that this franchise was one game away from winning its first-round playoff series last year.

Cleveland Cavaliers -- The Cavs have lost 33 straight on the road.

New York Giants, New York Jets -- Fans of the Giants and Jets have nothing to cheer about, as their teams will be watching the playoffs on TV.
