SPECIAL TO ESPN.COM

Oct. 6 | Dick's Stock Watch provides a fast-glance review of the past week in the world of sports, charting whose stock is up and whose is down...

Chicago Cubs -- The Cubs beat the Atlanta Braves in five games behind the powerful arms of Kerry Wood and Mark Prior. It's the Cubs' first victory in a postseason series in 95 years -- since they won the World Series in 1908, baby!

Florida Marlins -- The Marlins beat the San Francisco Giants in four games, capturing the final three of the series. Catcher Ivan "Pudge" Rodriguez made several big plays as manager Jack McKeon's team moves on. It's the Marlins vs. the Cubs in the NLCS!

New York Yankees -- Manager Joe Torre and the Yankees also won the final three games of their series to put away the Minnesota Twins in four games. Now they await the winner of the Boston Red Sox-Oakland Athletics ALDS, which will be decided Monday night in Game 5 ... with Barry Zito going against Pedro Martinez -- what a matchup!

Dante Hall -- In a big win over AFC West rival Denver, the Kansas City Chiefs' kick-return specialist posted his NFL-record fourth straight game in which he returned a kick for a touchdown. Coach Dick Vermeil's Chiefs moved to 5-0 after beating the previously unbeaten Broncos.

Dallas Cowboys -- The Bill Parcells-coached Cowboys (3-1) are on top of the NFC East. QB Quincy Carter threw for 277 yards and two touchdowns in Dallas' 24-7 win over the Arizona Cardinals and former teammate Emmitt Smith (who was knocked out in the second quarter with a shoulder injury and finished with a career-worst minus-1 yards).

Texas Tech QB B.J. Symons -- Symons (pronounced Simmons) threw a Big 12-record eight touchdown passes and piled up more than 500 yards passing for the third straight game as Texas Tech beat Texas A&M 59-28 Saturday night.

Navy Midshipmen -- The Midshipmen upset previously unbeaten and two-touchdown favorite Air Force.

Evander Holyfield -- Holyfield should retire after losing by TKO in the ninth round to James Toney.

Oakland Raiders -- The Raiders blew an 18-3 halftime lead and lost 24-21 to the previously winless Bears.

Florida Gators -- The Gators lost at home to Mississippi. This is the first time the Gators have lost consecutive home games since 1988-89.

Washington Huskies -- Washington was outscored 39-0 in the second half in a 46-16 loss to UCLA. That's 39 points in a half of football, baby, not basketball!
