ESPN.COM CONTINUES TO REIGN AMONG SPORTS SITES; SITE CONTINUES TO SHOW YEAR-OVER-YEAR GROWTH

ESPN.com, the leading sports site, continued to widen its lead over competitors, generating 7.185 million unique users in August, a 15% increase from a year ago, according to the August Media Metrix survey. By comparison, the SportsLine.com sites attracted 5.218 million unique users last month, and CNNSI.com had 3.136 million.

According to the August Media Metrix survey: · ESPN.com generated nearly 350 million page views in August, compared to the 186.8 million for the SportsLine.com sites and 40.7 million for CNNSI.com; · In August, users spent an average of 59.7 minutes on ESPN.com, compared to 47.8 minutes for the SportsLine.com sites, 16.6 minutes for CNNSI.com, and 5.6 minutes for FoxSports.com; · ESPN.com accounted for 60% of all August page views generated by ESPN.com, the SportsLine.com sites, CNNSI.com and FoxSports.com.
