That's his most improved area. Years ago, he used a longer paddle, and it left a lot of room. When he got in his stance, there was room to shoot. But he has tightened up the holes.

He has taken his linebacker mentality and got his positioning more like Russian great Tretiak. He is able to get his feet out facing the shooter more, giving less room between the legs.

If the puck is dumped in, not only will he play it well, but he'll read the play and move it to the player like a defenseman. Playing shinny, Belfour is one of the better forward-goalies I've ever seen.

I'm finding he is catching more pucks. That means fewer rebounds in front of him. When he is on his game, he allows no second chances.
