Pat Verbeek and Larry Murphy scored goals during a two-minute stretch in the first period, propelling the Red Wings to a 3-0 victory and sweeping the Kings out of the playoffs. Detroit was dominant throughout, getting two shutouts in the series from Chris Osgood.
