HAMILTON, Ontario (AP) _ Garry Valk scored with 4:01 left as Toronto beat Detroit 3-2 on Sunday night in the final exhibition game for both teams.

Darcy Tucker and Sergei Berezin added power-play goals for the Maple Leafs (4-5-0). Darren McCarty and Pat Verbeek had power-play goals for the Red Wings (4-3-2).

Detroit will open the regular season Thursday night at Calgary, while Toronto begins play Saturday night at home against Montreal.
