BOX SCORE
BOSTON (Ticker) -- Cameron Mann converted a penalty shot and Sergei Samsonov and Steve Heinze scored third-period goals as the Boston Bruins rallied for a 3-1 exhibition victory over the Buffalo Sabres. Mann was awarded a penalty shot late in the second period after goaltender Dwayne Roloson took a page from teammate Dominik Hasek's book and flung his stick in an attempt to stop a breakaway. The goal lifted Boston into a 1-1 tie after Stu Barnes opened the scoring on a Sabres' power play. Samsonov broke the deadlock with 9:39 left in the third period, beating Roloson with a one-timer from the low slot off Joe Thornton's centering pass. Thornton also picked up an assist on Heinze's insurance tally 2 1/2 minutes later. With Byron Dafoe still holding out, Rob Tallas stopped 20 shots for Boston. The Bruins rested left wing Anson Carter. Roloson finished with 33 saves.
