PORTLAND, Maine (Ticker) -- Anson Carter scored two goals and Kyle McLaren scored the eventual game-winner with 7:41 remaining in the second period as the Boston Bruins posted a 4-2 exhibition victory over the Montreal Canadiens. Sergei Samsonov opened the scoring with 8:20 left in the first period and Carter followed just under two minutes later with a power-play tally to make it 2-0. McLaren assisted on that tally and scored one of his own in the second period to give the Bruins a 3-0 cushion. Montreal came back when Brian Savage and Craig Darby tallied five minutes apart to cut the deficit to 3-2 with 1:03 to play. But Carter sealed the victory with 41 seconds left, improving Boston to 1-0-1 in exhibition play. John Grahame and Rob Tallas combined to stop 25 of 27 shots for the Bruins. Matieu Garon made 19 saves for Montreal, which slipped to 2-1.
