NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Zuzana Klimesova scored 21 points as No.
25 Vanderbilt steadily pulled away from Georgia Southern for an
88-70 victory Wednesday night.
The Commodores (1-1) might have lost Candice Storey, who collapsed with 2:37 left after appearing to injure her left knee.
Storey, Vanderbilt's captain and only senior, was taken for an MRI.
After trailing 6-1 for the first 4:17, Vanderbilt went on a
35-14 run during the rest of the first half.
Klimesova and Ashley McElhiney had nine points each in the first
half for the Commodores, who dominated inside, outscoring the Eagles 52-20 from the lane.
McElhiney finished with 18 points for Vanderbilt. Chantelle
Anderson scored 17, Jillian Danker had 12, and Jenni Benningfield
had 10.
Sharon Mitchell led the Eagles (1-1) with 16 points. Danna
Simpson added 14 and Sarah Davis 13.
