LUBBOCK, Texas (AP) -- Dionne Brown scored 15 points to lead five
players in double figures as Texas Tech (No. 12 ESPN/USA Today, No. 13 AP) opened its season
with a 78-40 victory over Texas-Arlington on Monday.
Amber Tarr added 14 points, including four 3-pointers, Katrisa
O'Neal and Jia Perkins scored 12 each, and Casey Jackson 10 as the
Lady Raiders improved to 7-1 against Texas-Arlington.
Texas Tech led by 20 at halftime and opened up a 35-point lead
with 10 minutes to play.
Texas-Arlington (0-2) did manage to hold Texas Tech scoreless
for more than six minutes in the second half.
O'Neal broke the dry spell with two free throws with 4:08 to go.
Tech then scored seven baskets in a row.
The Lady Mavericks were led by Tasha Campbell with 10 points. No
other Texas-Arlington players reached double figures as the team
shot 28.6 percent from the field for the game.
The Lady Raiders shot 48.5 percent.
