Vick hurting, while life is a Brees for Drew & Heupel

ESPN.com

We'll be tracking the top six players on our weekly Heisman Poll each Saturday. Here is how those six players performed on Saturday. The ESPN.com Heisman Poll is voted on by Lee Corso, Todd Christensen, Bill Curry, Rod Gilmore, Mike Gottfried, Kirk Herbstreit, Mel Kiper, Jr., John Mackovic and Gene Wojciechowski.

MICHAEL VICK -- VIRGINIA TECH
Michael Vick
Vick
Breaking it down: He finished the day with his right ankle in a boot/cast, on crutches and watching from the sidelines. That's the bad news. The good news: X-rays didn't show a break, so his season's not over. As for his Heisman campaign ...
Saturday's Performance: Beat Pittsburgh, 37-34
Passing: 8 of 15, 80 yards; 0 TD; 1 INT
Rushing: 10 carries, 34 yards
Season Statistics
Passing: 69 of 133, 1,023 yards; 7 TDs, 5 INTs
Rushing: 96 carries, 584 yards; 8 TDs

DREW BREES -- PURDUE
Drew Brees
Brees
Breaking it down: Everything appears to be coming into focus for the Boilermakers, and their quarterback is the big reason why. Two more wins and it's on to Pasadena for Purdue. The team's success just adds to Brees' attractiveness when it comes time for voters to send in their ballots.
Saturday's Performance: Beat Ohio State, 31-27
Passing: 39 of 65, 455 yards; 3 TDs, 4 INT
Rushing: 6 carries, 4 yards
Season Statistics
Passing: 240 of 401, 2,898 yards; 22 TDs, 8 INTs
Rushing: 80 carries, 427 yards; 4 TDs

ERIC CROUCH -- NEBRASKA
Eric Crouch
Crouch
Breaking it down: Accounted for all but 92 of the Huskers' total yards. But after coming out so hot in the first 6½ minutes, he was shut down with the rest of the offense. Lost this battle with Sooners and Heuple. Should get another chance in Big 12 championship game if everything plays out as planned.
Saturday's Performance: Lost to Oklahoma, 31-14
Passing: 12 of 27, 133 yards; 1 TD, 1 INT
Rushing: 24 carries, 103 yards; 1 TD
Season Statistics
Passing: 59 of 123, 908 yards; 10 TD, 6 INTs
Rushing: 120 carries, 679 yards; 12 TDs

CHRIS WEINKE -- FLORIDA STATE
Chris Weinke
Weinke
Breaking it down: All those point, yet only one TD pass? Well, blame it on Bobby Bowden, who was determined to run the ball. As a result, Weinke was a decoy much of the night, as the Seminoles ran the ball a season-high 54 times. Weinke also was watching on the sidelines by the fourth quarter.
Saturday's Performance: Beat North Carolina State, 58-14
Passing: 13 of 21, 185 yards; 1 TD
Season Statistics
Passing: 193 of 308, 2,969 yards; 23 TDs, 7 INTs

JOSH HEUPEL -- OKLAHOMA
Josh Heupel
Heupel
Breaking it down: From no mention to leading candidate? After beating the No. 1 to most likely become No. 1, we'd say the Heisman hype over Heupel is going to really heat up now. May still have another date with Huskers in Big 12 championship game. Should be fun to watch the replay, uh, rematch.
Saturday's Performance: Beat Nebraska, 31-14
Saturday's Statistics
Passing: 20 of 34, 300 yards; 1 TD, 1 INT
Season Statistics
Passing: 164 of 244, 2,194 yards; 12 TDs, 5 INTs

LADAINIAN TOMLINSON -- TCU
LaDainian Tomlinson
Tomlinson
Breaking it down: Good to have a running back return to the list. Still a longshot, but another 200-yard effort keeps him alone at the top of Division I rushing. By the way, his two TDs on Saturday give him 47 in his career -- only Marshall Faulk had more in the WAC.
Saturday's Performance: Beat Rice, 37-0
Rushing: 41 carries, 200 yards; 2 TDs
Season Statistics
Rushing: 195 carries, 1,093 yards; 15 TDs
