Oregon did its part. Man, did the Ducks do their part. Joey Harrington threw four TD passes and the Oregon defense shut down the red-hot Colorado rushing attack and rolled to a 38-16 victory in the Fiesta Bowl. Now the Ducks must wait to see if Nebraska can knock off Miami Thursday to earn a share of the national title.

"Tell me the Oregon Ducks did not deserve to be in the Rose Bowl. How they are stuck watching and hoping for just a share of the national championship instead of playing Miami for it is unbelievable. Anyone who watched that dominating performance knows the Ducks are the best team in the country."

WITH MEL KIPER

Oregon played pitch and catch all day. Joey Harrington had plenty of targets in Samie Parker, who had a huge game after an early drop; Keenan Howry; and Justin Peelle, a great red-zone threat all year. Maurice Morris had a spectacular scoring run when it looked like he was down. The line did a great job of protecting Harrington, who was brilliant. After his four-TD performance, I would be hard-pressed not to put him over David Carr now as the top quarterback in the NFL draft.

Nick Alioti's defense was spectacular, shutting down a Colorado running game that had been running roughshod over teams. Colorado dominated Nebraska. Oregon dominated Colorado. So if Nebraska beats Miami, Oregon deserves at least a co-national championship.
IT WAS OVER WHEN
Joey Harrington threw a perfect pass to Samie Parker, who running a deep-post pattern, that turned into a 79-yard TD. The pass, dropped perfectly over Parker's shoulder as he sprinted down the field, gave the Ducks a 14-7 lead and they never looked back.
GAME BALL GOES TO
With a special nod to the defense, that shut down the powerful Colorado rushing attack, this game was all Joey Harrington. He looked one step ahead of everyone all game, finishing with 346 yards passing and four TDs.
