LOS ANGELES -- The Los Angeles Clippers traded forward Tyrone Nesby to the Washington Wizards on Tuesday for forwards Cherokee Parks and Obinna Ekezie.

"We've got a ton of perimeter players," Clippers coach Alvin Gentry said. "We felt like we had to move somebody to open up better rotations."

The 6-foot-6 Nesby is in his third season out of UNLV. He started 12 of 14 games for Los Angeles, averaging 7.7 points and 3.0 rebounds.

"The transaction strengthens our roster," Wizards president Michael Jordan said. "We are acquiring a quality young player in a position that we have a strong need."

The stay of Parks and Ekezie in Washington was a short one. They were acquired by Washington on Aug. 22 from Vancouver. Parks averaged 3.7 points and 3.1 rebounds in 13 games. Ekezie averaged 1.2 points and 1.4 rebounds in 10 games.

"We're getting an experienced player in Cherokee and he adds size," Clippers general manager Elgin Baylor said of the 6-11 Parks, a Huntington Beach native in his sixth season.

Parks and Ekezie are in the final years of their contracts. They are expected to join the Clippers for Friday's game in Toronto.

Also, the Clippers placed guard Earl Boykins on the injured list with a bruised right knee. He was activated Nov. 20, but reaggravated the injury prior to a game that night. He originally went on the injured list Oct. 30.
