RECAP | BOX SCORE | GAME FLOW

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -- The Utah Jazz couldn't find a way to stop the Golden State Warriors. So the Jazz outscored them.

Karl Malone had 25 points and Bryon Russell 23 as the Utah Jazz beat the Golden State Warriors for the 17th straight time, 125-114 Saturday night.

John Stockton added 11 points, putting him over 17,000 for his career, as Utah scored its most points of the season.

"Any time a team comes into your building and scores 114 points and shoots 50 percent you have to be concerned as to where you're headed," Jazz coach Jerry Sloan said.

"Obviously this team played well. This team beat the Lakers. They're a much better basketball team."

Golden State beat the defending NBA champion Lakers 125-122 in overtime Wednesday.

Larry Hughes led the Warriors with 27 points Saturday, and Antawn Jamison had 26.

Utah trailed 99-98 with 8:30 left in the game, but outscored Golden State 15-6 over the next five minutes.

Stockton and Malone scored baskets to get the Jazz going, and Danny Manning followed with a dunk to give Utah a 104-103 lead with six minutes remaining.

Former Warriors player Donyell Marshall followed with a bucket and Russell had a three-point play to help Utah open up a 109-103 lead with 5:20 left.

After a pair of free throws from Hughes, Marshall put his old team away with a 3-pointer.

"I just thought we played a pretty good game. We've got an excellent basketball team. We gave them everything we had, I thought," Warriors coach Dave Cowens said. "The last part of the third and fourth quarter we turned the ball over a couple times and it cost us."

The Warriors had an 11-0 run in the first quarter, starting with Mookie Blaylock's 3-pointer with 2:01 left. A pair of free throws from former Jazz forward Adam Keefe gave Golden State a 42-31 lead with 9:20 left in the half.

Quincy Lewis, who scored 10 points in the quarter, hit a 3-pointer to help Utah start a comeback.

Malone ended the half with a dunk with a second left to give Utah a 67-65 lead.

"We have the talent to put up almost 100 points a game every night," Jamison said. "But we've got to find a way to stop the other team."
