WASHINGTON (Ticker) -- The biggest shot of the season for the
Washington Mystics did not come from Chamique Holdsclaw or
fellow All-Star Nikki McCray. It came from a tiny rookie who was
averaging one point per game.

Keisha Anderson made a 14-footer off the dribble at the buzzer
to give the Mystics a 61-59 victory over the Orlando Miracle
that kept them in the thick of the playoff race.
Despite the presence of Holdsclaw and McCray, the Mystics have
underachieved this season, leading to last week's resignation of
coach Nancy Darsch. They split their first two games under
Darrell Walker but still were looking for some sort of spark to
get their season in gear.
They got it tonight from the 5-7 Anderson, who came in averaging
just 1.1 points on 33 percent shooting. After two foul shots by
Orlando's Shannon Johnson tied the game with 5.3 seconds to go,
Washington quickly pushed the ball upcourt and it wound up in
the hands of Anderson, who dribbled just inside the foul line
and sank the winning shot as the horn sounded.
The basket capped the best game of the season for Anderson, who
scored a season-high 13 points, added three assists and made
Washington's only 3-pointer in 12 tries. The 125-pound guard
from Wisconsin came in with 22 points in 20 games.
