SEATTLE (AP) -- Wendy Palmer had a season-high 32 points and 12 rebounds as the Detroit Shock beat the Seattle Storm 82-78 on Wednesday night. Palmer was 14-of-21 from the field. Trailing 32-30 with 6:35 left in the first half, the Storm outscored the Shock (7-6) 11-6 to end the half with a 41-38 lead. Palmer scored 17 points in the first half. The 41 first-half points and 78 total points by the Storm (2-10) were season highs. Elena Tornikidou scored eight points during a 15-4 run to open the second half to help the Shock gain control of the game. Tornikidou finished with 16 points. Seattle was able to cut Detroit's lead to 73-70 with 1:20 remaining, but the Shock hit nine of their last 10 free throws. Detroit was 28-for-38 from the line overall. Kamila Vodichkova, the Storm's first-round draft choice, scored 22 points on 10-of-11 shooting. Michelle Edwards had 17 points and five rebounds. Seattle has lost five straight games.
