WASHINGTON (AP) -- New York Liberty coach Richie Adubato had good reason to be impressed with the Washington Mystics.

"When you add Vicky Bullett to that team, I think they have the best starting five in the East," Adubato said Sunday after the Mystics beat the Liberty 79-67. "Now they have three All-Stars in Chamique Holdsclaw, Vicky Bullett and Nikki McCray.

Nikki McCray
Nikki McCray, middle, comes up with the loose ball for Washington.

"Murriel Page is very good and Andrea Nagy is a very solid point guard. And this big rookie, Tausha Mills, you can't stop her in the low post. She's very, very strong.

"If you can tell me of anyone who has a better five in the East, please let me know."

Holdsclaw scored 22 points to lead five players in double figures as the Mystics improved to 2-1.

"Now we have some veteran presence in the paint and we know we've got to get them the ball," said Holdsclaw, who was 7-of-13 from the field and 9-of-9 from the line. "We're not going to win with just me, Nikki and Vicky _ we're going to need everybody to win. Muriel Page is probably our unsung hero. She does all the dirty work."

Page finished with 15 points and five rebounds, McCray had 13 points and five assists, Bullett added 11 points and five rebounds, and Mills had 10 points in 15 minutes. Point guard Andrea Nagy ran the show with a game-high seven assists.

"Holdsclaw is just fantastic, and McCray must have shot all summer because she's not missing anything," Adubato said. "Vicky Bullett, to me, is a premier player because she's so complete. She really knows how to play.

"But what's most obvious to me is the poise and the understanding and the savvy that Holdsclaw has now."

The Mystics, who led 42-29 at halftime, opened the second half with an 11-2 run and took a 53-31 lead on a Bullett's jumper with 15:54 remaining.

"This year, we don't want to be the hunter, we want to be the hunted," Holdsclaw said. "It's just a matter of going out there and taking care of business -- going out on your home court and owning it. And if we keep playing like this at home, it's going to look that way."

Vickie Johnson led New York (1-3) with 12 points and seven rebounds. Tari Phillips and Marina Ferragut added 10 points apiece.
