NEW YORK -- It's been the worst weather in U.S. Open memory and has created some changes in the schedule. But there are some great matchups in the quarterfinals and semifinals.

In the quarterfinals, Monica Seles and Venus Williams, both two-time former champions, will face off and a match like that is always special. Plus Jennifer Capriati has the chance to avenge a couple of tough losses to Amelie Mauresmo.

In the semifinals, Lindsay Davenport has a chance to prove to herself that she can beat a Williams sister.

Quarterfinals
Amelie Mauresmo (10), France vs. Jennifer Capriati (3), U.S.
Mauresmo has Capriati's number. Mauresmo beat her in the quarterfinals at Wimbledon and then she beat her again in Montreal just a couple of weeks ago. So, Mauresmo enjoys playing Capriati.

But Capriati, when she gets her mind to it, is a pretty good revenge player. I think she'll get one back here.
Pick: Capriati

Monica Seles (6), U.S., vs. Venus Williams (2), U.S.
Seles beat Venus in Australia and Venus beat Seles at the French Open, so this is, as they say, the rubber match.

Venus played her scary match against Chanda Rubin on Tuesday winning it 7-5 in the third set. Then she went out and practiced afterward.

The crowd will help Seles. It's a special match any time you get multiple past champions: Seles in 1991-'92 and Venus in 2000-'01. But the edge goes to Venus all the way.
Pick: Venus

Semifinals
Serena Williams (1), U.S., vs. Lindsay Davenport (4), U.S.
This is another matchup we've seen a fair bit of. Davenport needs to believe she can beat the Williams sisters. She's struggling right now believing she can. Up in New Haven, she was serving for the first set against Venus and then she didn't win another game.

If she can just cross over that barrier to know that her forehand, backhand and her serve are three big weapons that give her what she needs to beat the Williams sisters. But if she doesn't believe in herself, she's not playing at the top of her game. It seems she's either full-on, playing great, or thinking 'I can't do this' and struggling. So this match is really in Davenport's hands.
Pick: Serena
