Grass will be laid on Sydney's Olympic court Reuters
SYDNEY, Australia Australian Davis Cup officials
are preparing to lay a grass court at the Sydney 2000 Olympic
tennis site for their semifinal against Sweden in September, The
Australian newspaper reported Tuesday.
Australia, led by 20-year-old Lleyton Hewitt who won all
nine of his sets, beat Brazil 3-1 on clay Sunday at
Florianopolis, Brazil, in their quarterfinal match.
"The preferred court surface against Sweden is grass," the
newspaper quoted Tennis Australia president Geoff Pollard as
saying.
"It will be a court laid at Homebush Bay. In fact, we
already have a grass court in trays being prepared." Send this story to a friend | Most sent stories
