Haas and Kiefer to lead Germany in Davis Cup tie

BERLIN -- Tommy Haas and Nicolas Kiefer have been selected as Germany's singles players for next month's Davis Cup quarterfinal against the Netherlands.

German team captain Carl-Uwe Steeb picked his country's top two players on Tuesday for the April 6-8 tie in the Dutch city of Den Bosch.

David Prinosil and Jens Knippschild are expected to team up for the doubles.

Steeb left out off-form doubles specialist Marc Goellner.

The hosts will be without former Wimbledon champion Richard Krajicek, who is sidelined with an elbow injury.

Dutch captain Tjerk Bogstra has picked Paul Haarhuis, Sjeng Schalken, Jan Siemerink and Raemon Sluiter.

The Netherlands trounced defending champions Spain 4-1 in the opening round last month. Germany struggled past Romania 3-2.
